Tree protection at tonight’s budget forum

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

We have created a budget flyer that outlines how the 2015 budget can protect mature trees in the urban core. Community associations and groups have endorsed and will circulate it.

As always, when it comes to money, there seems to be too little of it, and many ideas about how to spend it. Our goal at tonight’s meeting is to bring tree protection into the picture. If the city is committed to mitigating climate change, ensuring quality of life in urban neighbourhoods, and enforcing its own by-laws, tree protection has to figure into the budget.

Thank you to the 3 city councillors who are convening this gathering. It’s time that those living in the city’s core have a chance to speak out about what matters to us. --Debra Huron
