The value of trees in Ottawa’s urban core

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

More than 20 people who sit on environment committees of community associations in Ottawa gathered for a morning whose focus was on protection of mature trees, climate change mitigation in this city, and ways we can work together.

It was heartening to hear how the concerns that Kitchissippi Ward has raised for the last year about tree protection in the face of infill developments are also on the minds of people living in New Edinburgh, Alta Vista, the Glebe and elsewhere.

Federal Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre, Paul Dewar, later spoke in the House of Commons about his positive impressions of the meeting (video link).
