No safe haven

This is the scene on the morning of Nov. 6. We learned yesterday that bulldozers have been digging up the median on Northwestern Ave. where 70 school children and supporters of the Champlain Oaks project planted two baby bur oaks on National Tree Day (September 26).

The fate of the newly planted bur oaks, which were being protected for the winter using wooden frames, is unknown.
