Bur oaks in the winter

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

This photo shows three beautiful healthy bur oaks at the corner of Sunnymede Ave. and Keyworth Ave. I took the photo in the late afternoon in late February, with the setting sun creating coppery crowns on two of the trees.

Bur oaks will soon be covered with leaves.

Did you know that the hairy underside of bur oak leaves traps pollutants from the air, helping humans and all creatures with lungs breathe easier in our urban environment? --Debra Huron
