A man shares a year in the life of a bur oak
Updated: Apr 19
Mark Hirsch found himself at odds with life, and turned to a bur oak for healing.
For one year, he took a picture each day of a sprawling bur oak in a cornfield in Wisconsin.
Rain or shine, and through lots of sleet and snow, he found himself relating to the tree–something he probably thought of, at first, as an inanimate object–with true love and respect. He learned to appreciate the “simple beauty I had missed for so long.” (Video from CBS news.)
Now, he has published 365 photographs in a book, and selected 12 for a calendar. Visit Mark’s website to be inspired.
